War Number 3. The US economy must not be doing that good because this is the third war in 10 years... Three different skirmishes for the US (and its coalition) at the same time, that's completely insane. So, I'm hoping that we - the people - are going to be able to elect a candidate for president that will actually bring in the HOPE and CHANGE that the current fearless leader promised about 3 years ago. I've seen no changes... and in fact, have only seen the addition of bankers and lobbyists to the cabinet and leading public positions - this all when the leader promised that this would never happened before being elected. Florida DOT, Racial Profiling and Huge Profits...

If anyone has ever had to travel the innards of Florida and drive north, they've probably been on the Florida Turnpike. The northern stretch of the road cuts through a beautiful piece of Florida countryside, full of rolling hills and such... but there is a dark side to the drive. Every 50 miles or so, the ride is broken up by a toll. Yes, a toll to get on the Turnpike, a toll to exit, a toll in the middle of nowhere and so forth.

To get the tolls, there must be toll takers - people who are willing to stand there all day and harass travelers for money. Well, I know I've personally given thousands to these people over the years. Now I feel duped after reading this article. Seems that the FDOT has made a fortune with their relatively new program of 'detaining' people who pay with larger bills. This is all part of the system to bring in a digital currency. This is an interesting story, a good read and news video to check out when one has time.

Charlie Sheen and The Devil

I think Charlie Sheen showed a lot of courage to come out and talk about nine one 1 back a couple years ago. It didn't really seem to hurt his reputation because he went on to become the highest paid tv actor. But his recent rounds of debauchery and porn pal gals plus the briefcases of cocaine don't do his already tarnished rep any good.

However, the latest rant that Charlie went on during Alex Jones' radio show last week really spent the actor off in a loop that I can only see as him continuing off into space. Sheen is brilliant, but he's showing his nutty side now. The only thing I see is that Alex and Charlie may have been pulling a Joaquin Phoenix on everyone - I don't KNOW this but it could figure in to make Alex's show more popular with those not familiar to his truth serum.

If you think about it, Alex was at Charlie's house in CA a week before the radio rant and Alex wasn't talking about the trip before hand. Something's afoot here... and I think its pretty cool actually. Anyway, the devil's definitely sitting on Sheen's shoulder, I just hope he doesn't go completely off the deep end.

Dalai Lama's Nephew Killed In Florida

This is sad news... very sad. The Dalai Lama's nephew was walking on the side of a Florida highway the other day was struck and killed by a car the other day. He was walking the white line with traffic. A man driving the car with his son were not charged with a crime.

The Dalai Lama nephew was walking for the Tibetan struggle for independence from China. I don't know why he was walking in that area after dark but it led to his demise. Very sad. I love the Dalai Lama and his sense of compassion and humility. Its a shame this happened to him and that his nephew was taken from him, I can only imagine that we've lost another amazing human from this world.

The Grammy's... an event - a spectacle - where EVERYONE seems to care about what people look like and what people wear, who they're with. Its an amazing process for someone like me who doesn't have cable. The vision of an ant farm keeps coming to me, you know, when you're a kid staring at all the ants going to and fro. Its amazing.

And so are The Grammy Awards. But this year, with everyone trying to upstage each other, one guest outdid everyone. She's Lady GaGa. She's being carried in on the shoulders of muscular models and toned ladies in some sort of weird take on an Egyptian thing. Does anyone think that there may be a hidden statement about Egypt in here? I'm guessing not - no one can get over the giant egg being carried by faux slaves with some ultra-weird rock star inside.

Well, that's my evidence - manufactured of course. I'm still kind of aggravated that he hasn't stepped down as president which makes him seem more like a dictator than a 'president'. Semantics.

But then, this guy is 84. He also has billions of dollars, that he apparently made while 'being president'. Sounds shady to me. But the fact that the guy is 84 and still dies his hair black says a lot about him. Egotism? DEFINITELY YES. I guess that's a pre-requisite for being president though.

The compromising situation in this case is a MARRIED congressman (Rep. Christopher Lee is a married Republican congressman serving the 26th District of New York) who's trying to pick up some woman on Craigslist. Its just tragically funny. No Cell Phones While Driving in North Carolina

I just heard via the radio, that drivers in North Carolina may not be able to talk on the cell phone while driving any longer. The NC house has just drafted the bill and its on its way to be passed and will go into effect in December if all goes 'well'. Having lived in North Carolina, I can't help but say that this may not be a bad thing due to the extremely fast driving I've seen there.

Then again, I don't like the over-reach on the half of the gov. Its just one of those things that will pile up over time. Can you imagine what people are going to be 'allowed' to do 20 years from now? Other than walk on a sidewalk, I don't know if anything else will be legal. On a good note though, the US House of Representatives voted against an extension of the 'Patriot Act' in a recent session. No reports yet on how that's going to hold up.

Flaming Youth

I was laughing at a pic of Phil Collins that one of my friends posted on Facebook today. The photo shows Phil here with an awesome mullet on one side and some British actor from a new movie "The King's Speech". Whatever. Don't really care about it... but the picture of Phil in the photo is one of the classic one's of him from the early 1980's - back when I'm guessing he guest starred as a drug dealer in Miami Vice.

Phil started in a band in the late 1960's called Flaming Youth... the album I came across last year in a thrift store (yeah, vinyl!) was called Ark2. Classic psych album actually... lots of great grooves, harmonizing and such. I had no idea Phil was in this band actually until I heard a song that had the classic Phil voice carrying through. I flipped the cover over and there he was!

I mean, he really screwed up when walking into the casino with his helmet on then demanding chips... his first mistake was committing the robbery in the first place, the second was the $25,000 chips that he stole, the third was sending pictures of the chips with "the biker bandit" from his cell phone.

Idiot. He could have had a comfortable life soaking up his score from this mob's big business but instead he acted like a true criminal - and - acted stupid.

Howard Stern Crushes Leno

I've stumbled across a funny bit on the Letterman show from Howard Stern's recent appearance. Great stuff actually. Every time I hear Stern I think of the Jerky Boys for SOME reason. But in this clip, Stern is classic because he completely upstages Letterman. This is great - because personally - I don't care for Letterman.

I've seen Letterman live. Its not all that and a bag of chips. And if you've ever heard someone say "the set is a lot smaller live than what you see on tv" - they're RIGHT. Its a small stage, just filmed with huge lenses. Its filmed in a high rise after all. The ground floor or whatever, but still, its not that big of a place. And, Dave isn't that funny.

SUPERBOWL!

The SuperBowl is coming... and the commercials with it. All I care about are the commercials. I don't like the game thing really. My competitive nature left me after 10 or 11 years old. Everyone comes upon these milestones in life sooner or later, fortunately for me it came before I hit the teenage years.

However, this mass mania for football - our modern day version of old Rome's gladiator events - means HUGE business. People will be parked outside the stadium this year, being charged $200 a head, just to watch the game from OUTSIDE the stadium. "Moronic", I say to myself, but that's not my reality and I shouldn't judge.

The powers at be love this predictability in human nature. They feed on it, get fat gorging on it. Now, we have rolling power blackouts in Texas of all places, just a couple days before the game. Perfect timing for conditioning people - if you want my opinion. For most though, this is simply an inconvenience and a bit of news that the average taxpayer will just shrug their shoulders to.

When there's talk of having to get our Texans power from Mexico, my ears perk up. That doesn't make sense. But then, neither does the fact that the mass rolling blackouts that have been plaguing Texas for the past couple days haven't ONCE touched the 'Colosseum' where the two teams will be meeting on Sunday. The multi-billion dollar stadium has experienced no power outages at all.

But the hospitals have.
This is where our priorities have shifted (or sunk in the mud).
This is not good.

In Come The Camels!

The time has come for the camels to show up in Egypt. I've always found camels interesting. There's so much a camel can do, but I never thought wrestling through crowds and carrying a rider through a riot was one of them. There's a lot going on in the Middle East. The people up top know what's going on... they're letting this act of the play go on as long as it takes I guess... as long as it takes to escalate things to the next level.

Prophets across time seemed to think that the final days would come to pass with trouble in the Middle East. We've always seen problems there but this is bigger than those relative skirmishes. Apparently, there are similar protests all over the Middle East now. I don't know how this will all get settled but I bet there's going to be more violence before calm comes. Its a violent, more archaic society over there, all we can do is have hope.

3 Branches of Government by Chuckie Schumer

This is great. A sitting Senator in the United States senate apparently doesn't know what the 3 branches of government are. Now one would argue that he just made a mistake, but he clarified the branches he was talking about and then continued to try to prove his point. My question is, does he really think that the House, Senate and the President are the three branches of government or is he just trying to see how far he can get with misinformation? I'm thinking he's no idiot - so I'm going with my second guess.

And... I think if the people up top think they can rewrite history, they would. That's pretty apparent. Evidence of this can already be seen in certain history books claiming that Bush the Second was a 'great' president. I don't know who's giving him props - or why - but clearly if one looks through the videos online of him tripping over his own tongue and often acting like the village idiot, they would quickly think otherwise.

It All Started in Egypt...

Egypt has the oldest buildings. Egypt led the way back in the day with slavery (I guess) and having a well defined caste society. Well, since society is currently in a mess, why shouldn't Egypt lead the world into a global revolution against a sitting government?

And why not start the looting (in disgust for the current political regime) by ripping the heads off mummies and rioting? Sounds like this makes perfect sense in our less than perfect world. Humans never cease to amaze and continue to prove that they, indeed, are animals. Human but animal at the same time.

As I was reading through news blogs and such this morning, I come across this article talking about how Piers Morgan's new talk show is circling the drain. Who knows how much the network is paying that guy. A sign that a show is hurting though is when you bring in a couple scantily clad Kardashians to resurrect your ratings. Especially when the sisters are talking about their sex tapes.

As far as the demographics go, I can't really see the target group for listening to these bimbos' interview. These are just rich girls who have nothing better to do than have cameras follow them around for no reason... or talk about the way they look... or complain about their problems. Why even look into watching this hard hitting 'interview' for more than a minute? Once you've see them for 10 seconds, you've pretty much seen it all.

Well, now a school district in Indiana is paying some hog over a million dollars in retirement funds. This is completely ridiculous. I wonder if the state can 'go back' on their deal.

What's happening to America? Click on the pic to the left to check out the video! I mean, humans act out in a variety of ways typically. We're all animals after all, that goes for EVERY human on this planet. Some humans are more evolved than others. For some reason, I can't help enjoying watching videos like this - which are a huge disappointment actually.

We drive through the Orangeburg, SC area a couple times every year... though I can't say that I've ever seen anything like this happening there, I have seen a couple guys walking around with canes - like the guy in this video who's seen swinging said cane wildly proclaiming he's gonna "beat yo mutha fuckin' ass". If this behavior is the type that sets America apart from all other countries, we'd be at the bottom of the pile. A real bummer if you ask me.

State of the Union Speech

Sounds like the State of the Union speech was the opening horn to start the 2012 US Presidential race. Mentioning things in the speech such as 'America still has the largest economy in the world' and other such comments really make things sound better than they are... and oh well, I guess its good to look at things on the bright side. At least he's being positive for America.

However, bowing to foreign leaders and last week allowing a Chinese pianist to play a patriotic Chinese tune at the White House; these aren't such positive things. In fact, I think the pianist thing is really a bad flub. Either that was an oversight on the part of White House staff or a carefully planned and allowed event.

This is what the LA Times reports:
"The song was composed for the film "Battle on Shangganling Mountain" ((an anti-American, Korean War film)). The lyrics, which weren't sung in the piano rendition at the White House, includes the verse: "When the friends come, fine drink is offered. But if the wolves come, what greets them are the hunting rifles."

Why is a song like 'My Motherland' allowed to play at such events... maybe because the Chinese are now in financial control of the world? Maybe???

The BODY scan with Jesse Ventura

So, this morning has the report out that Jesse Ventura is now suing the TSA. Good for him. This is just on the heels of another guy who sued the TSA and took his case to court. That case was about the guy in question not giving his name to TSA authorities... his attorney's argument was simple, that the defendant's name was on the boarding pass.

Jesse Ventura is in a different legal battle. He has a titanium hip apparently, no doubt from years of wrestling, not from his stint as governor. But his problem is actually capitalizing on an entire series of intrusive searches on all air travelers. Its been difficult up to this point to present some sort of argument to the invasive searches and protest to walking through body scanners that are so powerful that they can actually see down to the bones in your fingers.

Poor Olbermann...

Keith Olbermann is going to be a little less rich in a couple years if he doesn't do some wrangling in the meantime. He's wandered back and forth and then back and forth again with his stances on certain subjects that I pay attention to, so his leaving is inconsequential to me. I see though that his severance package will pay him his salary of $7 million a year to do absolutely nothing... this also happened to Jesse Ventura after he left his governor's position in MN. Now Ventura has his show Conspiracy Theory, will the same happen to Olbermann - only on a liberal level?

Here's the link to an article by TMZ about Olbermann wanting MORE money. I don't understand why some people can't just leave well-enough alone and enjoy their success. Same thing just happened to Regis I think too - the guy was getting paid $18-20 million a year, that too wasn't enough. What's wrong with these people??? There was a speech last night apparently. Our leader told us all we need to play it cool, to chill out and 'be better'. We can be better, but only if we have jobs and ways to manufacture things, etc... its tough for some Americans right now. There's talk on the radio about a depression in the housing market. Uh, yeah, that's been going on for a while now. If you're in Florida, you'd have guessed the real estate market has been in the crapper for about 2 years now. But 'they' also say we're "coming out of it". Sure.

Check out these massive caves in VietNam! They're so huge that apparently a 40 story building could fit in some, others have actual jungles growing inside. A river that has carved one entrance is often nearly dry but during the wet season the water level can reach 300 feet!

Happy New Year is in effect. 2011 has come in with a bang, literally. All the neighbors were firing muskets and lighting off mortars apparently. Good to have neighbors like this. Haven't updated this blog in forever, but intend to now this year. I've got lots to list and jaw about. New designs and such.

I have a new addition to my arsenal here. I can now print custom vinyl stickers with long outdoor life. I'm sure that these stickers WON'T last as long as a resin ink, screen printed process, but they're great for small runs. The other day I slapped one of my truck and its holding up good... it says:

MY BORDER COLLIE
IS SMARTER THAN
YOUR HONORS STUDENT

I put the sticker right below where my dog Trouble (a border collie) likes to ride in the back of the truck. Its got to be funny pulling up behind me in traffic and seeing this black and white sheepdog look back at you with his tongue hanging out, smiling.

Went sketchin' tonight... hit up Denny's for some early late-night food. Eggs, peppers, hash browns, sausage, pancakes. So good. Doodled before the food got there, then afterward drew a bit more.

We then checked out our local Barnes and Noble. I usually just sit and draw while my lady collects her favorite trade magazines to read. Today I picked up a magazine though, out of character for me, but I'm glad I did. The mag is called High Fructose. Lots of great art featured within, I highly recommend it!

This is the result of our visit to a local IHOP. They didn't have jalapenos, which isn't good because I wanted a new scramble they offer... but the wait encouraged me to jot this down. I hadn't drawn in a long time so this was fun.

I finally got some business cards printed up. The company who printed them is Overnight Prints. (www.overnightprints.com) They look good. I'm happy with them, and the weight is nice... not flimsy like you'd expect for the price.

The first side is obviously my printing and retail apparel business - the subject of this blog. The reverse side is my old website that details more or less my digital portfolio and random websites I've built over the years. I'm an artist first, then an archivist so if there are broken links and such on agentmike.com its because I don't keep it updated well.

All else is good. I have several new designs coming out that I really like. I've just got to remember to update the blog here. Its almost been 2 months since anything new has been posted here. More later!

I've got a new business card coming out... The amount to be printed still hasn't been decided yet, but I really like the color. Actually, the color in the design comes from a couple old pieces I created about 5 years ago.

My new work isn't as colorful but is much more detailed. So either way, if you buy anything from me, you'll be getting the latest in the progression. I'll start pushing myself to incorporate color into my design work.

Scribbles.
I scratched a bit on some paper the other day at the IHOP. That place was a mess... Hickory, NC. Don't go there unless you want to wait for about an hour to sit down. They were apologizing for the long wait until we left. But we ate... and I drew this.

I'll probably end up posting fun pictures here from now on... I've been told that I have an 'eye' for taking fun photos of strange people and places. We shall see. We'll start the process off by a couple fun flicks from the last couple days.

So, this is the guy that I found particularly fun. He has a mullet. He is a big dude, meaning that he's not a stranger to fast food. He's also headed to the Sally Salon Store, maybe for some more product to keep the mullet under control. This man was lumbering across the road, I didn't have to slow down to take a picture, he made this completely necessary with his turtle-like pace.

In the tshirt world, I've got a quite a few designs done in the past week. A Ronald Reagan design, a Sarah Palin design, a Merle Haggard fan shirt and finally, the most successful of these - the Chet Atkins guitar shirt. All's well... should be updating the blog more often now, I've been neglecting this duty as of late.

Perhaps my cell phone camera will be ready to take some more public pics soon. I really wish my little Sony U20 will be up to the task once I get some more batteries... the ones I have now only last 20-30 shots and they're dead. So, that's the future. Until then... or next time...

Listening to Thin Lizzy now. Up on the farm here in North Carolina... so if you're ordering a shirt, there may be a 4 day or so delay because the designs that my screen printer are printing for me have to be shipped here. But I am printing quite a few of the designs now myself, so there won't be as long a wait on those.

My woman is planting a garden and we're prepping for summer. Its already getting hot in the shop. Its going to be uber-hot without fans. I've got to find some industrial fans... that will help a lot. Moving air, that's what its all about.

I'm about to setup the darkroom. Should be interesting.

Its all about the art afterall...
My lovely woman and I had dinner with a couple friends that I went to high school with last night. During conversation, my friend told me that he always remembered me being a great artist. I don't think of myself as that but now look at my life and where I am with my art and can only say "DUH, you should have focused on this all along...".

I guess there's a lot we all think we should have done or should be doing. My art is just a natural part of my life. It only seems right to offer it to the world through my websites. A lot of the shirts I sell now don't really reflect my very unique drawing style, but they will in time. Right now, its all about survival. Period.

A 911 dispatcher had to tell a woman how to unlock her car on Sunday.

A woman called Kissimmee police to say she was locked inside her car at the Walgreen's on John Young Parkway near Poinciana.

"My car will not start. I'm locked inside my car," the unidentified woman said.

"Nothing electrical works. And it's getting very hot in here, and I'm not feeling well."

The dispatcher asked the woman if she was able to manually pull the lock up on the door.

The woman said she would try, and then, she said, "Yes, I got the door open."

The Groom of the Stool was a medieval English groom (i.e., a male servant) who, among other duties, had the task of cleaning the Monarch's anus after a bowel movement.[1]

The office persisted into the nineteenth century and John Neeld, M.P. for Cricklade held the office of "Gentleman of the Privy Chamber" to Queen Victoria, for which he was elevated to a baronetcy in 1859.[4]

A similar position, the Porte-coton, existed at the French royal court. The position existed in a less scatological but much more senior form, the Groom of the Stole, until 1901. These were always important noblemen.

Listening to Digable Planets now. The song is 'art of easing'. As any one acquainted with Digable Planets can imagine, the tune is very chill. I love their music... though I'm sure its dated to some degree. But you know, music ages like wine - unless its horrible in the first place, then it never really mattered to begin with.

We had a yard sale here today at the house. It went well... you meet cool people at garage sales. They're very frugal folks. Its good to meet like minded people. Made some cash, spent a little on lunch at Firehouse subs and then took a nap. Nothing creative happening today. Gotta print tomorrow and do domestic duties at Mom's. Sucks when you get old and can't do things for yourself...

Well, its another day over. Didn't get to draw much today... just a bit over at the H&R Block. That's a very boring place. I don't know if I could work at a place like that, not that I have to do that per se, but its just a place that seems very boring. Its hard to say that the guy preparing the taxes there today was really into it either. Although, he better be for what they charge!

In other news, a small part of my time online everyday is spent reading news. Part of the news on our local newspaper website is the mug shots section. Its posted right on the front page, usually with a very tragic shot of a person with a strange look. This evening, I found that 10 out of the 36 people on the list of arrests were arrested for drugs.... those drugs, they really keep the MAN busy don't they?

John Doe has been identified as one of those charged.
He befriended ganja. This is not good for his freedom.

Yikes... I saw too many people walking today in our town. If you think things are getting tough out there in the 'economy', look around to see if anyone's walking - unless you live in a big city where walking's a typical mode of transportation. I'm seeing more and more people here on foot.

Used to be in our town, there were only a few people walking -

the guy that carries a football helmet and wears the heavy down jacket in the middle of the summer
the black dude with the beard and weird walk that yells at himself constantly
a family of special people who ride the bus and seem to get off at every stop

One time, I was riding my beach cruiser for fun and was stopped by some people who I hadn't seen in a long time. Turns out they thought I had gotten a DUI or something... they couldn't figure out why I would be riding a bike otherwise. Riding bikes was one of the best things about living in a college town. Gainesville had a such a good vibe for bike riders... it always felt natural to ride a bike there...

This evening is coming around... the sun is setting and I've been listening to a Lynyrd Skynyrd playlist on Seeqpod. If you've never heard of Seeqpod, here it is: www.seeqpod.com

I've been using Seeqpod for almost a year now and still love it. When the company / website started out I thought is was too good to be true - to be free - to be... well, just to be. Even with the expected commercial turn I knew the site would take, I'm still very comfortable with the site. True, they do have little 'buy ringtone' buttons here and there, but its still a great site.

Basically all you do is go to the site, sign up, and start searching for music right away. The cool thing is that Seeqpod searches the internet for random servers that have music listings... and the site also seems to rely on audiophiles that have uploaded their collection of MP3's to the internet (all backups of their cd, tape or record duplications) - I say that for legal reasons.

I mean, the site is great. Did I say that already? But seriously, this is the way things are going. Its just amazing. For instance, a while back after watching the Big Lebowski for the 1000th time, I looked up the soundtrack on IMDB.com to see who the artists were and found Townes Van Zandt to be singing the cover of the Rolling Stones "Dead Roses". So I check out to see if any of Townes music was on Seeqpod.

Bingo! Lots of it.

So, now I'm a big Townes and Steve Earl fan (Mr. Earl by proxy to finding TVZ). Its been a great experience. And yet, I am by no means an expert at using the internet and all things new in technology... but little things like free and easily searchable music as just the coolest thing.

I'm confused. This article is confusing... but then, what in today's society isn't confusing. Like, 'where did all that money go?' People can't even understand how much money 9.7 trillion dollars is... graphically, its simply staggering. Most people don't know that a billion is simply 1000 million. So, that would make a trillion a million million. Get it?

That's ok. There's lots of things out there we don't understand. Like this article about a Woman undergoing sex change to become man is pregnant with twins I would rather focus on the simple things in life - like drawing and screen printing. Hey, it may not bring in tons of cash, but its very enjoyable.

The United States of Amnesia sketch.

I have several different ideas as to how this one's going to be translated to screen. As one could imagine, this design is about the state of mind most people are in... it seems like half the time, people aren't really awake at all. If you watch tv at all, you'd notice that when you watch it sometimes you'll just blank out for a while.

Anyway, there's a lot to be done in life. The television is "the man's" tool of control. Turn it off and try to be creative!

This is a great story. It was on Drudge's main page today. I love cruising the net for stories like this. I find it kind of aggravating though that most of our prisons seem to cater to those with drug related arrests. After all, a report released last week sometime found that 1 out of every 31 Americans are somehow serving time with the penal system. That's too many - double than 25 years ago. Ridiculous.

Now for something even more ridiculous...

Floridian called 911 three times over McDonald's chicken shortage

MARCH 3--Angered that her local McDonald's was out of Chicken McNuggets, a Florida woman called 911 three times to report the fast food "emergency." Latreasa Goodman, 27, last Saturday called police to complain that a cashier--citing a McDonald's all sales are final policy--would not give her a refund. If I would have known they didn't have McNuggets, I wouldn't have given my money, and now she wants to give me a McDouble, but I don't want one." That logic, however, did not keep cops from citing Goodman for misusing the 911 system. I'm no fan of politicians... but I do like to read about current events, geopolitics and so on. One of my favorite radio shows is Coast to Coast AM and Alex Jones' broadcasts. Jones is an absolute patriot and its great to hear him tell the real truth... if you haven't heard of him, its because the mainstream media wouldn't dare put him on air.

Anyway, as the people in the Carolinas and southeast are freezing in snow, all of us here in Florida are watching the palm trees bend with heavy wind. Its nice and sunny though and very comfortable outside. I was born and raised here, so this is normal for me. I couldn't imagine getting a foot of snow right now.

the long wait...

The long wait indeed... today is the first time I've actually thought about updating the blog here in months. This happened for two reasons. First, Xmas is a time when my business is simply very busy. Second, business slows way down after Xmas. Thus, I have time to be creative, market, blog and such. So, here it is... the newest of the new... from me to you. Whoever you are.

Anyway, I've been working on my new selling template for the Ebay store for Massive Ink. You can find it by going here: stores.ebay.com/themassiveink

I haven't added a bunch of new products with the new template yet so it will all look much the same as it did. But when I get another couple more days behind the computer, the new designs will be hitting. I like them... some are simple - for simple people. Some are more artistic. I like both styles. Being an artist, my favor would lean toward the artistic side.

I've noticed too that the shirts that have been selling more lately are the second amendment, anti-obuma, and those types. I guess this goes with the current problems were all seeing in Washington and the coming depression. Since I live in Florida, I can tell you that we're either in a depression now or either its a severe, severe recession. Florida's housing market has been hit the hardest I think - besides California and Nevada. The bad economy hits us first.

But all is not lost... and we'll all live through this... unless the poles shift. Then we're all screwed. For an idea on what that's like, check out the movie by Art Bell and Whitley Steiber caller 'The Day After Tomorrow'. Pretty spooky. The tornadoes in downtown Los Angeles were a nice touch ;)

Yesterday, I visited my cousins on their boat. They were passing through on their way back down to Palm Beach. They're such good people. Anyway, that was the first time in forever since I've been on a boat like that... it was very cool. At just under 40 feet, there was plenty of room to move around and relax. Very nice. Maybe someday, that will be my situation, but at 30 gallons an hour, cruising up and down the Intercoastal to Georgia and back won't be happening for me any time soon.

People are dumb.
They don't think too much. In this case, there's a bunch of people in Charlotte, NC are DRIVING around Charlotte to find pumps with gas. Why I say they're dumb is that they don't sit tight somewhere and get online and look to see where gas IS available. There are plenty of websites out there that provide stations' status, prices and such. But alas, most of these people probably don't know about this technology - or the mythical internet.

I always get the messages at the top of every login screen I see that asks if I want to be remembered. My login info anyway. It is kind of aggravating because I never use those features.... this mainly because I'm concerned that someday I'll have my computer stolen and all the passwords and info will be gone with the machine. I'm just weird like that.

But then, I will say that the machine I use now has lasted almost 2 years. This is a very good thing... I can now say that HP makes a good machine. It has lots of cool features and has always served me well... though now I hear a rattle around the hard-drive location. Kind of makes me nervous, which is why I'm going to try to sell it eventually.

That's about it for now... oh, the economy... yeah, things are bad.

You know, the more I watch the news and the more I hear about people losing thousands of dollars in the stock market, sometimes daily, the more I think about escaping. I was checking in on my myspace page today and found a couple videos that were pretty damn funny. The one's that initially caught my attention involved pranks, and a couple others were 'large inflatable' blunders. This is when you have basically a waterbed mattress, over sized 10 times position in a lake - a person sets on one end - and then someone jumps out of a tree. I swear this one person flew like 35 feet in the air doing about three flips and a couple spins before landing in a belly flop. It looked painful, so I watched it another 3 times.

Then there was this video where some folks were shooting fireworks at each other. A crazy time because one of the guys got one of the roman candle balls in his mouth. Probably burnt his tongue pretty bad, but whatever, it made for good video. Back in my younger days, we used to have bottle rocket wars around the major holidays. It was such a blast. No one ever got their eyes shot out but there were definitely a couple sets of damaged and burnt clothes along the way.

URBANA, Ill. -- A Catholic priest on the University of Illinois campus has been charged with selling cocaine from his church office and rectory.

The Rev. Christopher Layden pleaded not guilty Thursday to two counts of delivery of less than 1 gram of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church and one count of possession with intent to deliver 1 to 15 grams of cocaine near a church.

The 33-year-old was arrested Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Newman Center after investigators found 3 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia while searching his home and office. His bond was set at $50,000.

His attorney, Mark D. Lipton, did not immediately respond to an after hours message seeking comment.

What a gas! Yesterday, we drove back from North Carolina. It was the typical 10+ hour drive. There were a couple stops along the way which could be described as casual. My little Corolla got over 35 miles per gallon on the trip, which made me very happy. The gas prices were 'adjusting' on the way down based on the 'shortages' due to Hurricane Ike striking.

The gas shortage thing is ridiculous. People are just capitalizing on it. One exit we took in South Carolina had gas marked at $4.39, we thought better and headed down to the next exit. Gas there was $4.05, which is where we got gas... and with the money we saved, we got a sandwich to boot. A couple hours after that exit, we stopped at the GOasis near Darien, Ga where gas was $3.65 per gallon.

Down the road the gas prices on the same exit as the GOasis exit was $4.40 per gallon. So, our experience at the Goasis was good because we didn't need gas, just some coffee and relaxation. The gas I bought in South Carolina got us home to Florida. People complain about gas prices but they don't think to change out their vehicle like I did. Sure, the Corolla isn't a 4runner, but hey the 4runner got under half the gas mileage!

Blogging is work. I mean, if you do it right, the process takes a lot of research and typing time. But fortunately, I've become used to the process. My blogging is kind of a knee-jerk reaction to relaxing. Its what I do instead of writing in a journal. This is similar to, but not equal to, drawing in my sketchbook. That time is special and I truly phase out when drawing.

Anyway, there's a lot going on in the Massive Ink world. I've been very busy selling political tshirts. Its not something that satisfies my creative needs but its good on the wallet... or at least sort of. After all's said and done, I think I spend more time working on building my 'massive' empire than I would be working for someone... but that's the beauty, its all mine.

That's about it from here. I'll leave you with a sketch I drew a week or so back. Lots of work to do tonight... always really. Work never stops when you work for yourself.

There are many people out there that adamantly believe that their party - either Democrat or Republican - is the only way. These people think that their platform is the only hope and the only direction our country should be directed towards. The problem for all is the fact that people usually vote 'their pocketbooks' or whichever party is better for their finances.

As you may sit back and consider which side you are on... think about what Noam Chomsky says, this is an excellent short video that summarizes our national electoral and political party system. I have seen Noam speak, but all that he says is definitely not with my thinking... this video however, is a great explanation of what's happening now.

Hope this made some sense. And I think that 'we the people' can actually make a change... but, as it always is said, the change must happen at the base, locally, by you and me...

Ladies and gents, this will be our next vice-president. And no, I'm not a Republican - or Democrat. I figure oil runs the country and women run the world (men think they do). This wise choice for VP fits both criteria, plus she's damn good looking and is from ALASKA, our biggest oil producing state. So, there you go Barack - a little competition for ya now.

This will be our next president. Like it or not... and all the rhetoric about OBAMA's "Change" and whatnot will someday be a grand tale of "if he had become President, the United States would be a much better place". The record books will show this someday and talk of how McCain - or McCANE as I like to call him - will become an extension of the current idiocracy.

Politics is strange. A very bad business to be in though quite lucrative. I'm anticipating some fireworks soon. I don't know what those fireworks will be but it will be interesting at any rate. The talk goes from impeachment, nuclear war, some crazy domestic terrorism or nasty dirt on one of the current political candidates. I'd say the last of those will happen, but you can imagine if McCain is getting away with being a philanderer and war-monger in league with the secret societies, Obama's closet has to have some crazy skeletons hanging around.

Oh, and the reason I mention my 'McCain will win' statement is that there's been talk by representatives from Big Oil that McCain is their man. That statement was closely followed by Russia will be the next world power as their oil fields will be open for business soon. Pretty interesting revelations that are unfolding as we speak. They also mentioned that the Arab states would return to the Bedouin life, once again riding camels - whatever that meant.

The future will be interesting.

So, I decided to create the gif animation above based on a news article today that proudly displayed the folks for all to see...

Well, the 'before' picture was one I created from the '2005' pic... I just made the duo thinner in Photoshop. That's a big fish - but THOSE ARE BIG PEOPLE! Do we as a society not see anything wrong with that? I'm not trying to single out overweight people here but there's definitely a difference between people with a thyroid problem and just plain ole' people who just eat and eat. That and they eat the wrong things.

I'm not innocent here. I am about 15 pounds overweight and need to lose that weight... but no one would look at me and say - "ewww" or "do you think they know they're that big?". I think I got that last one from an old Louie Anderson (rest his soul) comedy routine. But anyway, weight in our society is a serious issue and it speaks volumes about our society.

Not much news to report today. Its very wet down here. The town south of me had almost 30 inches of rain in the last couple days from Tropical Storm Fay. Sucks to be down there... actually, there were reports of alligators roaming the streets and catfish in people's yards. Weird... but not for land that was a swamp only 100 years ago.

Humans aren't very smart to build on such land.

Hey Parents, great job on raising your spoiled kid!
When I read the story below, I couldn't believe it. If there was a Matrix, lots of video game nuts would love to be plugged in... I found the below story after reading a similar story where players of the new World of Warcraft game complained of getting sick and physically ill from long bouts of playing the game - sometimes up to 18 hours. Insane! ... and yes, idiotic. But this, in my opinion, is where our society is headed. The longer we watch tv and play video games, the sooner we'll all become slaves.

Blake Peebles, a 16-year-old from Raleigh, NC., dropped out of high school last September in order to devote more time to playing Guitar Hero, according to an article in the Raleigh News & Observer. Peebles, who's receiving at-home tuition in lieu of his schooling, puts himself among the top 15 or 20 Guitar Hero players in the country, and has racked up about $1000 in prizes so far. Only a handful are able to make a living from professional gaming, but the number is growing. Peebles, who plays under the alias "Dreminem," hopes to become one of them. Although his parents didn't want him to ditch school, in the words of the article he "bugged them until they let him quit." "We couldn't take the complaining anymore," Peebles' mother Hunter told the News & Observer. "He always told me he thought school was a waste of time." Blake hopes to win a place at the 2008 World Cyber Games Grand Final, which takes place in Germany in November, where -- if successful -- he'd take on gamers from over 70 countries. Would he have better career prospects if he'd dropped out of school to be an actual guitarist? Time will tell.

Vegas is in a dead heat as to who Barack Obama's vice presidential pick will be. Who knows? I don't. But I doubt it will be either one... but then I don't know much. And after the pick is made, I don't think it will make much difference. Anyway, I think its amazing how much energy and effort goes into this process... the politics on television is a tired and dragged out process. Just like everything else the news reports - like Tropical Storm Fay that's supposedly assaulting us here in Florida now.

Nonsense.

The eye is about 50 miles from my house here and the only thing different about today than any other day is the wind is blowing and its raining, no different than a normal thunderstorm. Yet, if you listen to the news, the sky is falling... here's where the shelters are... here's what to do to hide from the storm... its just ridiculous. Sickening actually because there's no reason for this.

NEW YORK (AP) - America's biggest banks have suffered unprecedented losses from the ongoing credit crisis, and that's made some investors question whether the big financial conglomerates should be broken up in order to survive.

Break-up advocates, who for months have been clamoring for Citigroup Inc. (C) to be dismantled, got some validation of their viewpoint this past week. Europe's UBS AG (UBS) - created through the combination of Swiss Bank Corp. and Union Bank of Switzerland in 1997 - on Wednesday laid the groundwork to tear up its business model after another quarter of steep losses.

Though the UBS announcement was expected, it was nonetheless a departure from what executives promised during a wave of big bank deals that began in the late 1990s. The creators of global banks like Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM), and HSBC Holdings PLC (HBC) had promised customers and shareholders that a diverse set of businesses would shield them from economic volatility.

But, those models haven't sheltered the banks from the subprime mortgage crisis that turned into a dislocation of the credit markets. Major global banks have taken more than $300 billion in asset write-downs, and organizations like the International Monetary Fund believe that amount could reach $1 trillion.

"The whole idea was, 'let's be so unbelievably diversified that we won't be affected,' but when the credit markets seize up, no matter what kind of financial company you are, everything seizes up," said William Smith, president of New York-based Smith Asset Management. "The UBS statement basically shows the model is a failure."

That's not what former Citigroup Chief Executive Sanford Weill envisioned when the company was created in 1998 by the combination of Citicorp and Travelers Group. He maintained that offering a mix of financial products - such as investment banking at Salomon Brothers, brokerage services through Smith Barney, and Citibank's retail and consumer banking - would protect the company.

Critics like Smith believe that Citigroup is worth more split up. Current CEO Vikram Pandit has rejected the idea, believing the company should come through the credit crisis in one piece.

But, John Reed, who as head of Citicorp forged the deal with Weill's Travelers Group, commented recently that the universal bank model didn't work. That's only been highlighted by Citigroup's stock price, down 71 percent from its 52-week high of $49.

Talk about how Citigroup and others should be structured will only intensify now that UBS appears to have turned its back on its "one bank" strategy. Switzerland's largest bank posted a hefty $5.1 billion write-down for the second quarter, and disclosed plans to separate its ailing investment bank from healthier businesses.

And, concerns about the execution of the business model are spreading, even among those who support the idea of financial conglomerates.

Ladenburg Thalmann's Richard X. Bove, one of the most outspoken banking analysts since the credit crisis began last year, wrote in a note that the "concept behind the creation of JPMorgan Chase has broken down."

Bove said JPMorgan's acquisition of Chicago's Bank One in 2004 was intended to beef up its consumer business, including banking and credit cards. That would help offset problems if the capital markets, like investment banking and related areas, were to falter. The problem is that both markets are currently weak.

He said JPMorgan's exposure was hurt further by the acquisition of crippled Bear Stearns in March. Still, despite all this, Bove feels the model is viable - and that JPMorgan can work through the troubles over a number of years by cutting costs and refining its businesses.

"No steel company can sell steel when auto manufacturers aren't selling cars, and no bank can make big profits when there's a weakness in the housing and credit markets," he said. "They have to ride out the cycle, minimize the losses, and maximize profits when the cycle returns. You can't restructure a company to avoid that cycle."

"In 1985, there were 14,500 banks in the U.S. - and now there's 7,200," he said. "For the past 23 years, six of them went away each week. The big universal banks might get hit, but they stay in business and come out with a bigger share of the market than they had before."

George Carlin will be sorely missed. Yeah, I'm about a month late, but you can never be too late when it comes to saluting talented recently deceased humans. So, last week I found a couple records at the garage sales. Two from Carlin from back in the 70's... the first was Class Clown and the second was Toledo Window box. If I think about it, I'll grab a couple clips out of one of these albums and post it - if not for any other reason than to compare and contrast the world events which happened in Viet Nam - vs - what's happening now with Iraq. Carlin brought up points from then in the 70's that could perfectly compare to what's happening now.

You see, this is why I don't really respect artists anymore. It seems like the weirder and more obscure they get, the more respect they get from their respective community. I'm not an art minded guy - I mean I love to draw and make a living doing so - but this is ridiculous. Could you imagine what this guy would say if asked (beyond the title of an artist) what he does for a living. His answer would HAVE TO BE: I make huge, floating turds and make millions doing it.

Flying piece of art causes museum chaos in Switzerland

A giant inflatable dog turd by American artist Paul McCarthy blew away from an exhibition in the garden of a Swiss museum, bringing down a power line and breaking a greenhouse window before it landed again, the museum said Monday.

The art work, titled "Complex S(expletive..)", is the size of a house. The wind carried it 200 metres (yards) from the Paul Klee Centre in Berne before it fell back to Earth in the grounds of a children's home, said museum director Juri Steiner.

The inflatable turd broke the window at the children's home when it blew away on the night of July 31, Steiner said. The art work has a safety system which normally makes it deflate when there is a storm, but this did not work when it blew away.

Steiner said McCarthy had not yet been contacted and the museum was not sure if the piece would be put back on display.
